Friday...Or Treat Day

Today is Friday. That means it's "Treat Day" at work. What does that mean, you ask? Let me explain….

It started out simple enough. A few years ago, it seemed like on Fridays, people would complain when there was no treats brought in….Fridays just really seemed like a good day for that.

I mentioned that at one of my previous locations, we took turns having "treat day" on Fridays. The people that I work with now thought that was a great idea, so we started the rotation.

It started out pretty basic, doughnuts, brownies, the run-of-the mill "breakfast" stuff that you bring into the office. Then, people didn't want to copy the same thing week after week, so some started to get creative. We have had things like egg breakfast casserole and toast, cheese and crackers (which I LOVE), and even ice cream sundaes!! Oh, and we even have a few people that think we also need afternoon treats and break out things like chips and dip or tortilla chips and salsa. One girl even brought ice cream for the afternoon treat!

While I do enjoy the treats, they are not so good for some that is trying to lose weight. Yes, I could just say no, but this treat table is RIGHT by my desk. To go anywhere, I have to walk past it. There are some days I can resist. There are others, like today, when I am TIRED and bored and just can't seem to say no.

The thing with me is that if I don't start, I am fine. When I decide to try just one piece, one bite, etc, I am all done. I can't seem to control myself.

What's on today's menu you ask? We have been munching on chips and salsa, potato chips and french onion dip, and some Doritos. Yum!

So, while I love Friday and all that it means, I also dread it (when trying to stick to my weight loss plan) and the "treat table".

Three Goals for this Week

I have decided on three goals for this week when it comes to my weight loss.

1. Drink 80 ounces of water a day. (didn't do so yesterday, but managed to today)

2. Exercise 3 times this week. (went for walk yesterday, hope to tomorrow, and will on Saturday)

3. No eating after 7 PM. (failed last night and tonight).

Let's see how the rest of the week goes.

Friday - Weigh In Day!!!

Today is Friday. I am feeling better finally. Still have a bit of a runny nose, but that's ok.

So, this morning, I stepped on the scale and I am at 205. I will take it. I have managed to stay around there for the past month, fluctuating a pound or 2 up or down.

Today is a "free day" in that I will not count points. I don't go "food crazy" or anything, but just allow myself a break from the counting.

Ok, I am MIA again

This time I am sick. I am knocked on my butt by a nasty cold. In a few days, I will be back to post food journals and such. Right now I am not really eating much of anything.

I know I have been MIA

I have been neglecting this blog (and the diet). I have signed up for Weight Watchers again. I am just doing the online program as it's too hard to get to meetings. I will start following it on Sunday. Then I will be posting my daily points count.

Food Journal for 9/2

I didn't do so well at counting calories, but I think that I did a good job making better choices and eating less.

Breakfast - PB&J on white whole wheat bread, apple

Lunch - Leftover lasagna, fiber one bar

Dinner - Salad w/ Grilled chicken, light catalina dressing

We did go to Dairy Queen and I had a small Mr. Misty float. It was so hot today (near 100), that it sounded good for all 4 of us. I also just had some reduced fat Pringles and a few peanut M&M's.

I did have 40 ounces of water today. Not fabulous, but better than I had been doing.

Not too bad but I shouldn't eat after 7. I am going to focus on that. It's all about baby steps. It took awhile to obtain these bad habits and it will take awhile to unlearn them.

So, how am I going to do this

You might be wondering how I am going to do this whole weight loss thing - like what program am I going to follow. I thought about doing Weight Watchers. I have done it in the past and had success. To be honest though, I don't feel like doing all the point figuring and counting. It's not hard by any means, I just don't feel that it will work right now in my busy life.

I have a friend that has been very successful losing weight by counting calories. I think that this is what I am going to do. I will probably post daily my intake (how boring for you, I know), but maybe I will inspire some ideas in others and get ideas back from others.

I will be doing this starting to tomorrow, so stay tuned....And don't worry, I will talk about other stuff here besides what I am eating.
